You’re probably aware of some of the foods that can be bad for your oral health. Have you ever wondered what foods can aid your smile? Our dentist and team are thrilled to give you some pointers on foods to add to your diet to improve your dental health.

Cheese
If you love cheese, count yourself lucky! Studies have found that eating cheese raises the pH in the mouth, thus lowering the risk of tooth decay. In addition, cheese contains calcium and protein, which can strengthen tooth enamel. The chewing that is required to eat cheese also increases the production of saliva in the mouth.

Leafy Vegetables
Leafy, green vegetables like kale and spinach can help improve oral health. These greens are high in calcium, which can aid the health of the enamel. If you find adding these greens to your diet, try adding a handful of spinach to a salad or adding greens to a smoothie.

Yogurt
Yogurt can aid in the health of your teeth because it is high in protein and calcium. The probiotics in yogurt can benefit the health of your gums. To get the full benefits of yogurt on your oral health, choose a plain variety with no added sugar.

Carrots
Carrots are helpful to the teeth because they are crunchy and full of fiber. Eating raw carrots can increase the saliva in the mouth, thus lessening the risk of cavities.
